Review:The site for this food does a lot of boasting about what it doesn’t include, such as by-products, soy and corn. This is all true, it doesn’t. For that, I have to give kudos. For the most part, it has kept away from including ingredients that will draw the ire of pet nutritionists.
However, and this is big, brewers rice is its 2nd ingredient. We can’t look past that, as brewers rice is a leftover product of the brewing process that leaves it stripped of most of its nutritional value. With the bran removed, so goes most of the fiber. It’s an inferior product, one which humans would not ingest. Since many of these companies like to brag on “people quality” ingredients, this is certainly not one of them.
So I’m disappointed by that. The quality could be so much higher if they would have just included whole grain rice instead. As it is, it’s still better than anything you’ll likely find at Walmart or Target, but not at a good pet store.
What’s good about this food….
Meat is first ingredient, good protein percentage (25%), flax.
….and what’s not so good.
Brewers rice is 2nd ingredient and the primary non-meat in this food.
