The Pure range from Canidae offers us grain free alternatives to what are already good products. I rarely hear anything bad about the company so their foods are very solid.
This review is for the Pure Land variety, but this review also caters for Pure Sea and Pure Elements.
Bison is the main ingredient, which seems to be a tell-tale sign of a good product. It’s a decent animal protein source, and in this food is backed up with lamb meal which is excellent. Sweet potato is a great source of carbohydrates, the same with potato which is also included. Peas★★★★★ Excellent source of protein/carbohydrates/fiber. are a good source of fibre and a nice ingredient to see in a dog food.
Canola oil★★★★★ Excellent source of fat for energy and healthy coat contains 10% omega 3 fatty acids and half the saturated fat found in other vegetable oils commonly used in pet food. isn’t the best choice of oil. I’d rather see fish or flax oil as a better alternative as they contain more omega-3, but Canola isn’t too bad. Omega fatty acids are required for good health as well as a healthy coat.
Canidae All Life Stages seems to have more meat in the ingredients, but the protein levels in the grain free variety is slightly higher at 25%. That’s good for a food, and suitable for dogs of most ages and breeds.
This food is a great all rounder, with decent meat and carbohydrate content. It’s a food I’ve fed my own dogs and would happily feed again.
What’s good about this food….
Excellent ingredients all round.
….and what’s not so good.
Nothing worth mentioning.
