Review:Halo seem to make some pretty good foods with great ingredients, and Wholesome Lamb is no exception.
Lamb is the top ingredient before any grains, backed up with whole peas★★★★★ Excellent source of protein/carbohydrates/fiber. and eggs★★★★ Good source of protein, free of shell. which are fantastic. Once dehydrated, the lamb won’t be as prominent in the ingredient list, so the protein content of the peas★★★★★ Excellent source of protein/carbohydrates/fiber. and eggs★★★★ Good source of protein, free of shell. are needed. Oats★★★★ Good source of fiber and energy but not whole ground for full nutritional value. and barley★★★ Excellent source of nutrients, great grain for pets, but not “whole ground.” Can be of any quality. are tip top as far as grains go, and there’s no inclusion of cheaper grains which is great to see.
The food is packed with decent ingredients – sweet potatoes which are better than normal potatoes, apples, blueberries★★★ Gimmicky, not enough used for benefit to eyes., green beans, carrots★★★★★ Natural source of beta carotene (precursor to Vitamin A needed for immune function), excellent fiber., cranberries★★★ Gimmicky, not enough used in food to help the urinary tract., zucchini, and alfalfa★★★ Source of chlorophyll, dietary fiber. (which is Arabic for “father of all foods”). Wow!
My only criticism is it could do with more meat content which it’s definitely lacking in. It’s held up by other protein sources such as peas★★★★★ Excellent source of protein/carbohydrates/fiber. and eggs★★★★ Good source of protein, free of shell. which give it 4 stars. It’s relatively expensive being a holistic food, but the high quality ingredients justify this somewhat.
The kibble is small which means it’s good for smaller dogs too.
What’s good about this food….
Decent ingredients all round so no skimping on cheap fillers.
….and what’s not so good.
More meat content would be good as this is largely a veggie-based food.
