This review is for Now Fresh Grain Free for adult cats, made by the Petcurean company.
Too be honest I’m a bit confused with this food. There’s some excellent ingredients, but it lacks in what’s important. What struck me immediately is there’s very little meat content in this food. De-boned turkey is the top ingredient, but once cooked this becomes relatively insignificant. There’s no other meat source backing this up other than salmon and duck, but these are way down the list and not worth mentioning. We also find a number of supplements in the food, such as lysine and carnitine; tell-tale signs the meat content is lacking.
The protein in this food mostly comes from the peas★★★★★ Excellent source of protein/carbohydrates/fiber. and eggs★★★★ Good source of protein, free of shell., two excellent choices for a food lacking in meat. Potatoes are a good source of fibre. There’s a range of fruits and vegetables in the food which is really nice to see, and canola and coconut oil for necessary omega fatty acids.
We all know cats are carnivores, so unless your cat has severe allergies to meats, I’d keep looking. It’s certainly not a bad food, but other Petcurean products are better.
