Brothers Complete
Brothers Complete is one of the smaller manufacturers, and appears to be the house brand of Fort Lauderdale’s The Doggy Store. It’s always hard to review a little known brand as it’s difficult to find reliable information. As such it’s important to know this review is based on ingredients analysis alone, and it’s worth doing your own research if you wish to feed this food. This review is for the Chicken Formula variety.
This is a grain free food which is good to see, and the price reflects this. The first two ingredients are chicken meal and turkey meal, both lean meats and packed with protein as they’re in meal form. This is an excellent start for this food. Next we find whole eggs which is fantastic to see, ensuring this food has great sources of protein in a form very digestible for dogs. Pea starch will provide additional protein as well as fibre, and isn’t a bad choice of ingredient.
The fifth ingredient is cassava/tapioca, which we often find as a substitute carbohydrate source in grain free foods. It’s a mixed bag with this ingredient as it contains a high proportion of sugar, second only to sugar cane, but it’s biochemical simplicity means it won’t affect dogs with allergies.
We find some other interesting ingredients in this food, such as dried whole cell algae as a source of omega 3. This is something I haven’t seen in any other dog food. There’s also a decent range of veggies which we’d expect from a high end food, and even watercress which is unusual.
The ingredients in this food are very impressive, and worthy of 5 stars. I’m giving it 4 as I know too little about the company to thoroughly recommend it.
