Life’s Abundance

Life’s Abundance looks to be a food primarily ordered off of the internet, so you won’t find it in stores. For that reason it’s not as well known as other brands, which is a shame as it’s a very good food. Let’s take a look…

Having chicken meal first is a good indicator that this food will have solid animal protein sources, and it does. The protein isn’t sneakily inflated by the use of cheaper grain-based protein sources such as corn – that’s great to see. We also find eggs and whitefish meal in the food that will contribute additional protein, but the chicken is far more significant.

The primary grain is ground brown rice, which is a solid choice and a much more nutritious grain than the inferior white rice. In recent years we’ve seen a trend towards grain-free foods, but that doesn’t mean a decent grain-based food should be overlooked. Good grains can provide our dogs with energy, and the fiber can aid digestion. We also have chicken fat as an excellent source of energy and vital omega-6.

It’s always great to see flax seed in a dog food, another source of omega fats for health and coat. It’s something we should see in all foods.

Lastly, the fruits and vegetables are well represented here, and that’s usually the mark of a good food. All in all this is very well rounded, and buying it online gives you the convenience of delivery to your door.

Where to buy?

What’s good about this food….

Chicken meal is first, brown rice is a solid grain, flax is present, fruits, vegetables, vitamins and minerals.

….and what’s not so good.

Nothing worth mentioning.

  1. When I opened the box from my last shipment, the bottle of Agility was open and the pills had all fallen out scattered inside the box. I checked and there was no safety seal. That really disturbed me because it should’ve had a safety seal. Anyway, so I immediately called. The rep said that she would speak to a supervisor the next day to get approval to overnight me a bottle so I would have it by Friday. I got a call back on Thursday saying that the supervisor said they would replace the bottle but would not send it overnight mail. I asked to speak to the supervisor. I explained that considering it had no safety seal (which I was upset about for obvious safety reasons) it also clearly was their responsibility and not due to rough handling in shipment. I explained that my dog needs the agility everyday and due to this issue she hadn’t had it for two days. With her refusing to overnight mail it, That means it won’t arrive until at least Monday which is many days of her not having it. She was very rude and said she was not willing to approve overnight shipping it to me because it was too expensive. I told her that I pay for good quality products and that should also include good customer service. I told her this was unacceptable. I asked to speak to her manager and first she said that she was the manager. Then I said then who is your boss. She mentioned a name but the person was conveniently not available. I left my contact info and asked to have her call me but she has not. This has really damaged my trust with them and the safety seal missing from the agility makes me concerned about the safety. So, I’m not sure what to do at this point.

  2. This is a very old review. The food has been improved and the new formula does not contain beet pulp.

There is no canola oil in this food anymore, it has been removed.

    • This is a good food, and my cats loved this for 6 years. The formula is still good, but other ingredients have been switched out, and Brewer’s yeast was added. Now my cats won’t go near it, and I am very disappointed with this change.

    • Hi Anthony, thanks for your comment – I’ve updated the review to reflect these changes.

  6. Hello! Please note that Flint River Ranch and Life’s Abundance are different companies. FRR is the same company as Red Bandana Pet Foods out of Atlanta. Same owners, ingredients, everything except labels.

If you would like to speak with Dr Jane Bicks, the Life’s Abundance product formulator please let me know and she can explain the ingredients to you. She is the only formulator who actually speaks with customers.

  7. This has been one of the best foods I have ever used for my adult yorkies and pups.
I have had great success . No problems at all. The prices are very fair.
The company approached me about 4 years ago and sent me samples. Honestly I hesitated to try them, my yorkies were doing fine on Eukanuba. When I started feeding the Life’s Abundance I saw an amazing difference in the energy level. Coats and skin look great. Attitudes are good, they eat well and look great. I will always use this brand. The results are amazing.
