Nutrish Rachael RayRachael Ray sure drives a hard sell, since she’s a chef herself and proclaims that she wouldn’t make any food that she wouldn’t feed her own dog Isaboo. The problem is, like many other people in America, Ms. Ray apparently doesn’t hold her food up to that high of a standard.

It starts out well enough, with beef and chicken meal being the first two ingredients. I was actually rather hopeful after that, though I should have known that a food sold at Target for a relatively cheap price probably wasn’t going to hold up. Alas, it falls apart quickly. Brewers rice, which is the leftover part of the rice devoid of the bran after the brewing process, is 3rd. We see corn mentioned twice, when once is really bad enough. Soybeans are present as well. The only “no no” grain they didn’t include was wheat.

The thing that’s sad is that the advertising for this food says this food has “no fillers”. Really?? Corn isn’t a filler?? Soybeans?? Sigh.

Where to buy?

What’s good about this food….

Meat as first two ingredients.

….and what’s not so good.

Brewers rice as 3rd ingredient, abundant use of corn and soybeans, “animal fat” is often a term used to hide the source.

  1. I made the mistake of buying the cat food. I transitioned my cat to this product but by a week into it, she had watery stools. She’s ill now. I am taking her to the Vet. I do not know this contributed directly to her illness, but it amplified her problems. I have switched her to Iams and her stool is firming up again, but she looks terrible. Do not buy this product.

  2. My two dogs, toy poodle and cavapoo love the small size pieces and taste. So far they really love this dog food. They are both under 15lbs. Tiny kibble pieces look like beef, peas and carrots in color. Since my toy poodle is going on 10yrs old, she is missing some teeth and has an easy time eating this dry food.

  3. Please do not buy this food for your dog. This food has killed my dog, It has killed and/or made other dogs sick. If you had problems with this food please contact the FDA and/or you state’s attorney general. My dog was young with no problems prior eating this food. I loved my dog and don’t want anybody to lose their pets/ loved ones due to a bad dog food.
